Good Monday everyone!
Of the three types of spirit I work with to help people find their way, the most important to our success is our own spirit. How we feel about ourselves and how we push back from a world that does not recognize our greatness.
This article is from Expertise.TV, the platform I have begun to move my online classes to. Alex Braganza, the Founder of the company, has given me permission to reprint this from their newsletter in full. I think it is worth reading.

Hey there, superstar! You might not believe it, but even the most accomplished folks sometimes find themselves battling Imposter Syndrome, that pesky little gremlin in your mind telling you that you’re not as awesome as everyone thinks. But fear not! We’ve got your back with these telltale signs and some seriously effective strategies to kick Imposter Syndrome to the curb:
- The Doubt Demon😈: Do you hear a tiny voice whispering, “You’re faking it, they’re all gonna find out!”? Well, that’s Mr. Doubt Demon, and he’s gotta go! Start a “Brag Book” – a collection of your achievements and compliments. The next time Doubt Demon drops by, you’ll have a whole arsenal of proof that you’re the real deal.
- The Luck Loop-de-Loop🍀: Do you think your successes are purely thanks to cosmic alignment or unicorn magic? Meet the Luck Loop-de-Loop! Next time you’re tempted to credit your achievements to a lucky rabbit’s foot, stop and remember: you’ve got skills, you’ve got smarts, and you’ve got a lot more than luck on your side.
- The Rejection Rollercoaster🎢: Are you avoiding new opportunities because you’re afraid they’ll catapult you into the pit of rejection doom? Say hello to the Rejection Rollercoaster! Embrace your inner daredevil and hop on. Remember, even if you hit a dip, it’s all part of the thrilling ride to success.
- The Perfection Parrot🦜: Does your brain squawk “Perfect or bust!” every time you tackle a task? You’re dealing with the Perfection Parrot! Give yourself a break. Aim for excellence, not perfection. That Parrot needs to learn a new tune – one that’s all about progress and self-kindness.
- The Comparison Chameleon🦎: Is your lizard brain obsessed with comparing you to others? That’s the Comparison Chameleon, changing colors to blend in with everyone else’s achievements. Show it the door! Focus on your own journey, celebrate your unique victories, and let that chameleon hang out elsewhere.
Imposter-Squashing Strategies:
High-Five Your Feelings: Give yourself a virtual high-five for recognizing those Imposter Syndrome vibes. Awareness is your secret weapon!
Spill the Beans: Share your Imposter Syndrome stories with friends. Chances are, they’ll chime in with their own tales, and you’ll realize you’re all in this together.
Pro Help FTW: If Imposter Syndrome is putting a major dent in your happiness, consider chatting with a pro – a therapist or counselor can help you shoo those pesky thoughts away.
Reality Check, Please: When Imposter Syndrome pipes up, hit it with some cold, hard evidence. Remind yourself of past achievements and give your self-doubt a one-two punch!
Yay, You! Parties: Celebrate your successes, big or small, like it’s a party! Positive reinforcement can boot out Imposter Syndrome before it even knocks on your door.
Goal Bites: Turn those big goals into bite-sized achievements. Each step forward is a victory dance waiting to happen!
Be Your BFF: Treat yourself with the kindness you’d show your best friend. You wouldn’t call your friend an imposter, right? So, give yourself the same love.
In a nutshell, Imposter Syndrome might be knocking, but you’re not obligated to let it in for tea. Recognize those signs, show it the door, and remind yourself that you’re rocking this journey with all the fabulousness you possess. You’re not an imposter; you’re an amazing, capable, and oh-so-real YOU!
Best wishes,
